I was one of the lucky ones to get tickets for the New York Comic Con’s Saturday date. This is my third year attending and I swear it is getting bigger and more crowded each year. I always enjoy myself because of the panels, special guests, gaming stations, the virtual reality sections and especially  the NYCC Eastern Championships of cosplay contest. Saturday is always the best day to go. That is why the tickets sell out so fast. Below is the beginning of how crowded it was.

Some of the really popular panels were Teen Wolf, The Walking Dead, Rooster Teeth’s “RWBY” interview and One Punch Man. Unfortunately, because of the craziness of the crowds I was unable to attend any panels. Everyone was lining up 3 hours before the panel start time. Now I know for next year what to do. lol But because I didn’t attend the panels I still had so much fun walking the floor taking pictures with everyone and participating in the fun events they had.

I always like to roam through the artist alley. it is just amazing how talented everyone is with their artwork. The many comic, anime and original characters are just amazing. Here are some images from Artist Alley.

Now this is where temptation hits. I mean come on!! all the cool stuff you can buy and become broke from. I was very proud of myself. I only brought two things, even though I wanted to buy the whole damn place. hahaha Like many conventions they had the manga and comic section. The toys to action figures, to plush characters. One popular one was the Star Wars helmets. If only I can give $600 for a helmet ughh.

My favorite part of the whole convention are the cosplayers. The thing with this convention because it is a Comic Convention, you see more of the Marvel and DC characters. There are like 2oo Harlequins and Jokers. Plus 900 Deadpools, haha But I was happy to spot a few of my anime lovers out there. Here are some pictures of my favorites anime costumes.

Now I attended this last year and thought this was amazing. This year the cosplayers stepped it up even more. The creativity of these costumes were amazing. I mean Wow! They had different categories from Armored, needlework, FX and Larger than life. My favorite categories were Armored and larger than life. The materials they used to make their costumes look like metal in the armored section was just astounding. Then the larger than life section was so crazy to see these huge costumes still function without falling apart. Below are some costumes and the top 3 winners of the competition.

Overall I had a lot of fun. I was a little disappointed that I was unable to attend the One Punch Man and Teen wolf Panel. But thats life. I still enjoyed myself and had fun with fellow nerds like myself.

Did anyone else attend? tell me your thoughts.

I’ve decided to support artist out there who draw anime, manga or even vocaloid characters. There are so many good ones I want to dedicate Friday’s to Fan art! Read below if you or someone you know is an artist.

Anime Girls NYC wants to feature fan art every Friday on their blog. I am taking submissions of your best art work. Must be of anime/manga or vocaloid only. Sorry no marvels or DC characters. I will feature some of the best artwork on every Friday. Please note not everyone will be featured. Tag a friend if they draw. Rules are below

1. Pictures must be yours
2. Must be anime, manga or vocaloid
3. Email
4. Subject line must say FAN ART
5. Include your name and age

Thank you and can’t wait to see all the fantastic art Work

Otaku USA Magazine and Mad Event Entertainment (producers of comic con in Long Beach, CA) hosted the ANIME FAN FEST!! This was their first convention which was sponsored by Bandai Namco. Many fans came out to show off their costumes, attend many panels and just show their love for anime.

Here you see the pictures of the floor for merchandise. I wanted to buy everything. But I took a breather and said no let’s not go crazy.

But I did manage to buy these.

Some interesting panels they had were:

1. The Worst Anime of All Time

This panel was hosted by Mike Toole, a critic and feature writer for Anime News Networks. This panel was packed. Mike showed us many old anime that I can agree were bad. One anime they didn’t even finish coloring the characters. But they had to rush to put it out. Another the transformation of the robots made no functional since. One anime I will name he showed was called chargedman Ken, look for a clip of this anime and I will agree this show was horrible but yet funny because of how horrible it was.

2. A Million Ways to Draw in the West

This panel was hosted by Tommy Yune, President of Animation at Harmony Gold USA, Jason Thompson, Manga editor of Otakus USA and Lizbeth R Jimenez, Published author & Artist of Sacred 13. This panel was very informative for aspiring Manga artist who are looking to make a career of drawing. They show some of their art work as well. Which looked so awesome.

3. Inside The Alchemist Studio – 10 year Anniversary

This was my favorite Panel, they had Vic Mignogna, dubbed voice of Edward Elric, Aaron Dismuke, the original dubbed voice of Alphonse Elric, and Mike McFarland, dubbed voice of Havoc and director of many episodes. This Panel was packed to the fullest. It was just so great to see the people who voices the characters of the anime I’ve been watching for a loooong time. They told us their favorite scenes, favorite seasons, which characters they wish didn’t die and much more, while there we got to see two short clips the cast came up with together called FullMetal Flames and Fullmetal Fantasy.
There were many more panels, such as the Pokemon 20th anniversary, How to Write a Dub, Cosplay 101, Anime Literary Classics and Great Anime We’ll (Probably) Never Get. They had the Hyperbolic Anime Chamber which aired some anime for us to watch Naruto Shippuden, Ojisan and Marshmallow, World Trigger, God Eater and Erased just to name a few. They also had autograph signings from man cosplayers, of course the crew from FullMetal Alchemist and so many more.

The highlight of my day after the Fullmetal Alchemist Panel was the Cosplay Contest. You got to see all the creativity of the cosplayers. Some were eh and many were Wow. Below are some pictures.

Best in Show – Samurai Ninja Star Wars
1st Place – Terra Brandford – Final Fantasy 6
2nd Place – Soul Survivor – Fall Out 4
3rd place – Ciel, Madame Red, Grell, and Elizabeth – Black Butler

At the end of the day I was happy and satisfied. It wasn’t as big as other conventions, but I did like the intimate feel. I met many friends and fellow cosplayers. For a first convention Otaku USAa Magazine did really well. Below are some of my fav cosplayers walking around the floors.

Anime fans wherever you may be Otaku USA Magazine and Mad Event Entertainment (producers of comic con in Long Beach, CA) will be hosting ANIME FAN FEST!! It’s a new convention for anime lovers.

Date: May 6 – May 8, 2016
Location: Garden State Convention Center (Somerset, NJ)

You should buy your tickets. I’ve already bought mine. We should support because there is another convention for anime lovers.

Also, 2015 was the 10 year anniversary of Fullmetal Alchemist and Otaku USA magazine said they will be celebrating that the whole weekend. That will be super fun. I love that anime.

There will be many cosplayers, voice actors, exhibitors, and many more.

I am definitely looking forward to this. I hope a lot of anime fans attend. Will be great to meet many otakus!

Now what should I cosplay as?

COSPLAYING- who would or have you cosplayed????

Cosplaying is definitely becoming big in other countries besides Japan.
Many of us want to become some of our favorite anime, vocaloid, gaming, comic, manga, movie, and cartoon characters.

Cosplaying lets a person bring a character to life. Let’s a person become someone else and recreate a life that is not their own.

I love going to conventions and Japanese festivals seeing many men, women and children dressed up as characters. It brings a since of community. We all are here doing the same thing without feeling awkward or judged.

Some of my favorite cosplayers are Yaya Han, Spiral Cats, and Alodia Gosiengfiao. They make a living doing cosplay.

I’ve recently started Cosplaying and definitely want to become more involved. My 2016 resolution is to attend more conventions and festivals so I can continue to cosplay.

As for creating a costume I buy mine. I am not creative enough to create one. There are many out there that can. The work they put into detail are amazing. Creating the outfit, accessories and the weapon (if character has one) is very tedious. Creating their accessories and weapons out of materials you would have never thought of. I applaud the true cosplayers out there. I admire your work and I am a huge fan of all of you.

Who have or who do you want to cosplay????
