I’m happy to be doing this Owl blog Tour for the month of June. It’s Gay Pride Month and I am closing it out with a bang. Hahah

June is known as “Pride Month” within the LGBT & Queer communities in honor of the Stonewall riots that occurred at the end of June in 1969. At Owls, we strongly support individuals who are part of the LGBT & Queer communities as well as individuals who are struggling with their sexual orientation or gender identity.

“Team” functions in two ways: 1) allows individuals to show their support to the LGBT & Queer communities and 2) allows LGBT & Queer communities to express their love to whoever they want.

So for the “Team” topic, we will be discussing our favorite LGBT & Queer characters in anime and other pop culture related media, the impact of the yaoi and yuri genre within LGBT & Queer communities, our personal stories involving gender/sexual orientation, and etc.

The reason I was super happy about this topic and month is because I myself am a Lesbian Female (bisexual only for Japanese, Korean and anime men) hahaha yeah weird.

I fully came out in college. When I mean fully in high school some friends of mine knew I was gay. My parents and sister knew I was gay and were fully supportive. But I just didn’t shout it out to the world. I think at that time I was still trying to understand it myself. But when I came to understand myself and my community I was in college and usually your college experience can change your life altogether.

I will say being a Lesbian I haven’t had any bad experiences but info get annoyed by guys saying “oh what guy did you wrong” to “you haven’t had the right guy yet”. Ugh all the stupid comments. Another I get from male and female is “oh I didn’t know you were gay, you don’t look gay”. Not all lesbians like to dress like a guy. I like to dress like a girl and the business I am in I have to dress fashion forward. No I don’t like flannel shirts or cargo pants. Hahah so much ignorance.

Back to the Owls June tour. This was a perfect topic for me because one anime that I’ve watched and kind of related to a life experience I had was Akuma no Riddle (Riddle Story of Devil). This anime is considered to be part of the Yuri Genre (female like female).

Myoujou Academy is a private girls’ boarding school. Class Black has 13 transferred students who are all assassins with one target… Haru Ichinose. If they are successful with assassinating Haru they are granted any wish they desire. All these assassins are all equipped with special skills they’ve learned in the academy. There is one particular assassin Tokaku Azuma who is top of her class. She begins to develop feelings for Haru and begins to protect her from the other assassins on her own.

Tokaku is no 1 in Class Black. She is a very skilled assassin but is also a cold and distance person. One of her special skills is fighting with knives. She comes from the Azuma family which are infamous assassins. Even though she is tough and seems distant she is very easily manipulated and cares what people think about her. During the series we learn she has never killed before. Even though she is put into deadly situations she can never kill. When Tokaku enters Class Black she becomes Haru’s protector even though she was also sent to kill her as well. She gains feelings for Haru and feels obligated to protect her.

Haru is no 13 in Class Black. She is the Target in Class Black that all of the other assassins are supposed to kill. She is opposite of Tokaku, very out going and cheerful. Her body is covered in many scars that she is embarrassed of. She possesses an ability from her clan called “Queen bee” which attracts, controls and can manipulate people. Similar to the insect. Due to this ability Class Black was created to see if Haru has the ability to control the class. Tokaku becomes her protector throughout this series. You see the love one has for the other.

Tokaku’s love and protection she had for Haru was everything. She fought as hard as she can for the safety of Haru against top female assassins. Tokaku had the opportunity to get any wish she wanted but decided to sacrifice that to save Haru. But I guess love conquers all.

The reason I was very fond of this anime was that in my senior year in highschool I had a secret relationship with a girl (no name for protection). She was not out at all because her family and many of her friends were not accepting of the gay community. Plus her family was very religious. So it was very hard for her to accept herself as well. But her and I had a great connection. We can talk for hours and just relate to each other on many levels. Plus she liked anime πŸ˜€. She once told me she wished she had friends and family like mine that were accepting and supportive. But she didn’t have that support system and I was her only support system.

One day she got the courage to tell her family and some of her friends that she was gay. And oh God it did not go well. Her friends pretty much abandoned her except 3. Then her family were saying the devil is in her and she is falling for his temptation. Let’s just say it was a shit show.

After her coming out she became my Haru and I her Tokaku. I became her protector, because on a few incidents in school 2 of her old friends told other students about her coming out. Some idiots would say some really rude and crude stuff to her and my crazy ass stepped in and cursed their asses out. Their has been a few occasions where I had gotten into physical fights to protect her. No one ever bothered me because I was too confident to let them get to me but because she was a timid person they knew they can taunt her and it would hurt. Since I was friends with so many people and everyone knew me as the fun and cool person in school many of them started to step in and help out with the situation. Things finally calmed down after they saw many of my friends started stepping in and doing something about it as well.

So back to Akuma no Riddle, I really watched this anime and thought OMG those idiotic Students in my school were the assassins, and her and I was Tokaku and Haru. The assassins were doing any and everything just to get to Haru just to kill her for their own gain. Like the students in my school who harassed her to feel better about themselves without realizing they were really the insecure ones. My love for her to protect her from those idiotic students was similar to Tokaku’s love for Haru.

This is why I really liked this anime so much because it just felt like my life written in a different storyline. I also like the crazy characters as well and seeing tough chicks helped out too.

But my friend and I split after high school because she went to college at Florida State and I stayed in New York but we still remained very close friends. She is living a much better life and she is in Miami now that we are older and the gay community down there is just as cool as NY.

So this is exactly why I am happy I joined the Owls because I always love to support people who feel different and not accepted whether gay or straight or a nerd or geek haha we all are unique in our own ways and we all should embrace and accept everyone for who they are.

Hope you enjoyed my life experience and the Owls’ tours for the month of June. Check out Crimson613 post that was just before mine.

This season had some interesting anime. The return of some popular anime. Premiere of a classic anime but a new generation. I had to say I was happy this season. Here are my final thoughts.

Anime: Attack on Titan (Shingeki No Kyojin) season 2 Genre: Action, Drama, Fantasy, Superpower, Shounen

After finding out that among Humanity there were humans that can change into Titans like Eren Jaeger and Annie leonhardt, Levi’s team must get to Eren’s old house that was crushed in the first destruction and find his basement to find out a secret to why there are titans. Another group of scouts are looking for a whole in a wall to close because there are Titans freely running around the walls that were supposed to protect mankind. There are many secrets that must be answered, why are there Titans in the wall? What does the church have to do with the Titans?

Guys all I can say is πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘. The second season did not disappoint me and I was back to my obsessed self. What I did like about season 2 was that a lot of the supporting characters’ stories came to light. We got to learn more about Ymir, Christa now known as Historia, Reiner and Bertholdt. The action was even better. The Titans were more ruthless. The ultimate fight between Eren’s Titan form and the armored Titan was EPIC!! We also met a new Titan form which was an Ape. He spoke and was very intelligent. One of my favorite things about season 2 were all the secrets that were slowly being revealed. If you didn’t read the manga you were def shocked. The finale was sooo amazing and the final scene made me which there were another 13 episodes left. Ugh so all I can say is I can go to sleep and super happy now.

Anime: Beserk – Season 2 Genre: Action, Adventure, Drama, Demons, Fantasy, Military, Supernatural, Seinen, Horror, Romance

Guts is known as the black swordsman who is on a quest for revenge. Throughout his quest we see many crazy outlaws, evil spirits and the devout child of God. Guts encounters many of them fighting his way to get to the end of his quest to accomplish his revenge.

I was so happy they brought back Berserk. The creatures were more creepier and scary. The fights became more gory and bloodier. Guts is now one of my new husbands and I am in love with him. They introduced some new characters that I was very happy with. The storyline became even more interesting. This is def a must watch if you are into badass anime.

Anime: Boruto: The Next Generation Genre: Action, Martial Arts, Superpower, Comedy, Shounen

Boruto the son of Naruto Uzumaki who is now the 7th Hokage is upset with his father choosing work over his family duties. Due to Naruto’s neglect Boruto becomes rebellious and has animosity towards his father. He decides he will follow his own path and achieving the life that he wants.

The first thing I made sure not to do with Boruto was compare him to his Dad Naruto. I made sure I watched this anime as if it was something different. I will have to say I really did enjoy Boruto. I like his character a lot, he is rebellious, a troublemaker and yet a team player. He is always thinking about others. I also grew to love Mitsuki and Shikadai. The three of the together was something I wish I had in real life haha. It was also good to see some of your favorite Naruto characters older and being adults especially since you grew up with them. The storyline can be a bit better but I am wondering who is this mystery character that is stealing Chakra. Then also, what does Mitsuki know about this muster person.

Anime: Kado: The Right Answer (Seikaisuru Kado) Genre: Sci-fi, Fantasy

One of the top negotiators of Japan Kōjirō Shindō takes a business trip with his colleague Shun Hanamori by plane. While on the runway they witness a cube forming in the sky. It becomes bigger and bigger then swallows up the 251 passenger plane they are on at Haneda airport. While in the cube they come to meet a being who looks human but has unearthly powers. He goes by the name Yaha-Kui ZaShunina and the cube they are in is called KADO. Yaha-Kui is here to intervene in Japan’s internal affairs and Shindō becomes the prime negotiator between Japan and Yaha-Kui.

This show definitely took me by surprise. At first I wasn’t sure about it. It had an interesting storyline, but as the show continued the story kept getting better and better. It made you want to continue watching to know what happens next. The fact that another being ZaShunina coming to Earth and interacting with humanity was alone interesting. Then ZaShunina introducing humanity to many of his godlike products that we can explore and better our function on earth was great. I still like the fact that they included the world powers trying to be involved with this interaction because in real life the same thing would happen with us. The only thing as I said before is you don’t really get to connect with any of the characters. I do like Shindō but he isn’t a character that I am crazy about. I feel this anime is really good because of the concept and storyline.

Anime: Kenka Bancho Otome (girl bats boys) Genre: Action, Shoujo, School, Romance

KENKA BANCHO OTOME (Girl beats boys)

Hinako Nakayama was raised in an orphanage and never knew who her family was. One day on her way to school she bumps into a boy that looks just like her named Hikaru who claims to be her twin brother. They are from the powerful Onigashima Yakuza family. He is injured and tells Hinako due to his injury he is unable to attend his first day of classes. So she has to take his place.

Shishiku Academy is an all-boys school which is ran by the toughest delinquents. They must fight everyday to get to the top spot. now Hinako must fight her way to the top acting like her brother Hikaru.

This show was probably my favorite after Attack On Titan. It was funny, action packed and just an all out brawl. I guess coming from a female point of view made me super happy that Hinako was whooping guys ass while she was acting like Hikaru. The other characters that became more supportive was also very cool and funny. The real Hikaru was hilariousssss. He made me laugh everytime he appeared on the screen. I’m still wondering why he wanted to dress like a girl so badly. Overall I really wish the episodes were more than 7 minutes. I wanted more. And I still want more. A def must watch.

Anime: The Laughing Salesman Genre: Black Comedy, Psychological, Thriller, Drama

There are many people in the world that want to achieve a goal but they can’t and have difficulties achieving them. Moguro who is a salesman helps these individuals with providing them with what they want to achieve. He Once he wishes these individuals with their desire he gives them devise to not abuse this opportunity.

The Laughing salesman was enjoyable. I did like to see who was going to become Moguro’s next victim. I say victim because he knew all his clients were going to fall into temptation. Each story had something different to bring. I guess also in real life we all desire something and would love for someone to give us the opportunity to live out our desires. But I also do believe we would fall into temptation and take advantage. It’s human nature I believe. What I will say about this series is I kind of wish someone didn’t fall into temptation and didn’t mess up. The plot was kind of repetitive but it is still an enjoyable series.

Anime: Clockwork Planet Genre: Action, Clockpunk, Fanatsy, Comedy

In the future (not specified) Earth dies. A genius engineer known as Y recreates earth by using gears and clocks. Due to this, earth is renamed Clockwork Planet. 1000 years later a high school boy Naoto Miura an machine otaku finds a crate that crashed into his apartment and finds a coffin inside of it. In the coffin lies a human looking girl but isn’t because she is a machine made up with gears that need to be fixed. Naoto has supersonic hearing more advance than normal humans so he wears headphones everyday. With his special hearing he was able to hear where the problem was in the girl robot’s gears. He fixes her and she comes to and considers Naoto her master and tells him her name is Ryuzu. They become close. Later they meet two people who were trying to find Ryuzu the youngest Meister named Dr. Marie Bell Breguet and her body guard Vainney Halter. Marie lets Ryuzu know she is the key to saving the planet.

I really wished this series could have offered more. But it was boring, and confusing. I could not keep up with the story at all. I also didn’t like that the robots had feelings. They are robots. But what can I expect from this anime. It was not enjoyable at all.

Anime: Armed Girl’s Machiavellism Genre: Comedy, Action

The story follows a boy named Fudo Nomura who is a transfer student at an academy filled with girls who carries around weapons. These girls rule over the boys in the school. There is a group called the Five Ruling Swords that are in charge of the school. Fudo becomes a target of Rin Onigawara who is a member of the group. Fudo can only escape if he can defeat the Five Ruling Swords

I did like this anime but I kind of dropped it. I wasn’t excited to go watch it again. I guess it’s my fault because it wasn’t on Crunchyroll. I had to go to kiss anime to watch it and I forgot to do it. I will say the first 6 episodes I did get to watch I did enjoy it. Even though I am not a fan of Harem I was actually okay with this being part of that genre. I am not going to give it a bad review or a good review. I will follow up when I finish it.

So that is my opinion on the Spring 2017 anime. Tell me your opinions on your anime.

Yes, it is Tuesday and that means we are no where near the weekend. UGHH haha but it’s Versus Tuesday.

Today we have the Titans from Attack on Tian. The Armored Tutan a.k.a Reiner Braun and the Female Titan a.k.a Annie Leonhardt.

I know they are on the same team but I would like to see them battle.

They both have a lot of strength. But Armored Titan has a lot of Brute force where he charges into his enemies. Then the Female Titan has a more skilled combative technique.

if I had to choose I will go with Female Titan because she has combative skills. Armored Titan is just good at running into his opponents. But I think the Female Titan can dodge his move and then take him down.

Who do you think would win in a battle Female Titan or Armored Titan???

It’s that time again. Fan Art Fridayyyy. Ugh so glad it’s the end of the week. I am so tired. But today want to showcase another talented artist.

There has been a few things I’ve been reading on some anime sites that caught my attention.

Let’s begin with the big news everyone is talking about. After waiting freaking 2 years for season 2 of Attack on Titan to come out they only gave us 12 episodes. Don’t get me wrong the season 2 was amazing and I am super pleased. But I really wished we received 25 episodes. Now we have to wait until 2018 for season 3. Look at least it’s not another 2 years. But still not close enough. Hahaha

Seems I have a lot to look for in 2018. Bungou Stray Dogs a series that I did grow to love due to Dazai will be premiering their film Bungou Stray Dogs: Dead Apple in 2018. It will premiere in Japan but maybe they will come to the Americas soon after. Fingers crossed. Check out the trailer.

Studio Ghibli six-film fest is finally here in the U.S. Miyazaki’s My Neighbor Totoro which is a classic Studio Ghibli film, will be hitting theaters on June 25th and 26th. The other films they are featuring during this fest are Kiki’s Delivery Service, Castle in the Sky, Nausicaa of The Valley of the Wind, Spirited Away and last but not least Howl’s Moving Castle. They will be showing subbed and dubbed. Best believe I will be buying tickets to all my fav films. I just love anime events because there will be other anime fans there as well. New people to meet. πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

Has there been any news that you found interesting?

It’s sports day! Two of the most popular sports anime Haiykuu and Kuroko no Basuke (Kuroko’s Basektball).

Which sports anime did you like best?

Now I really have to say I love both these anime sooo much. They both kept me on the edge of my seat. I felt like I was part of the team. I felt the drive they had as a team and individually of wanting to win.

I loved Hinata and Kageyama love hate relationship. They were complete opposites and yet they worked well together. Even though they argued every chance they got. I also loved their teammates. But their opponents were just as memorable as well. I mean hello my husband Oikawa.

Kuroko no Basuke

Kagami and Kuroko were such an amazing duo. The support they had for each other was on point. One stood out above the rest and the other was never seen, the shadow. But I really loved the generation of miracles. The skills and personalities were all individually awesome. I loved the supporting characters just as much probably a bit more than the main characters.

But in the end, it’s a very hard decision because I really liked both anime but I will have to go with Kuroko’s Basketball. I liked way more supporting characters than Haikyuu. I loved Kurko’s and kagami’s relationship even more. I stayed home for a week just to watch all three seasons of this show. It controlled my life haha

So, which Sports anime is your favorite???
