It’s the end of the Winter anime of 2017. I have to say it wasn’t as exciting as other seasons. Only one anime I made sure I was home to watch. But I did enjoy some of the anime. Only one I did not like at all. Take a look below.
BLUE EXORCIST SEASON 2
15 year old Rin Okumura and his younger brother Yukio are raised by father Shiro who is an exorcist. One day Rin discovers that he and Yukio are sons of Satan. While protecting the brothers father Shiro is killed by Satan himself. Witnessing Father Shiro’s death Rin becomes enraged and draws the Kurikara sword which locked up Rin’s demonic powers, thus revealing his demonic powers, physical features and blue flames.
Rin enrolls in the True Cross Cram school which teaches exorcists their skills. He comes to find out that his brother Yukio was already a professional exorcist. Now Rin must learn the skills he need to become an excellent exorcist to one day defeat Satan.
Well 1, I was super happy Blue Exorcist had a 2nd season. It started off kind of slow. But when it came to the action and who we were able to identify as the antagonist it became a really good show. Then,You see who betrayed the exorcist group. A lot built up but I have to say it was good. Kind of sad it was only 12 episodes. The 1st season was way better but the second season did really well. Rin was able to explore his powers after he truly accepted himself being the son of Satan. Yukio realized how much animosity he has against his brother. I think the characters really show another side to themselves.
SAGA OF TANYA THE EVIL
Tanya Degurechaff’s is a young big blue eyed, blonde haired girl, who is in her final curriculum stages at the Imperial Military Academy. She is training in the third patrol as part of her services to the force. Her goal is to become a aviation Mage. But many unexpected events occur that make her goal seem far away.
I have to say I really really enjoyed this anime. Tanya was awesome. She was real bad ass for a little reincarnated girl. The military and mages were awesome. It played well with each other. I am not into magic anime. I kind of hate magic but this anime didn’t have the same feel as other magic anime. I do have to say you do not fall in love with any character really, only Tanya. I do like other anime where other characters can grow on you and you become connected to them. The only character you will grow to like or hate is Tanya. But because I like bad ass characters I have to say I enjoyed this anime.
8 years ago, Makabe Masamune was a weak and chubby little boy. He was harshly rejected by the beautiful Adagaki Aki. Now he is older and changed his name, lost the weight and looks better than ever. He is going to make Adagaki fall in love with him so he can reject her just as bad as she did him.
This anime took me by surprise. I am not a fan of romance but because Makabe was out for revenge it was a different take on romance. This show had some really hilarious parts. No one was annoying to me like most romance anime. Makabe was really funny and yet you feel for him because he really wants to get his revenge. But many things didn’t go to plan like he liked. Adagaki was a girl who was really mean but you don’t hate her or dislike her. At least not me. I actually liked her character. The supporting characters were actually cute and fun too. I have to say this anime was enjoyable.
NOT SO BAD
Tazuna is a high school student who likes to fiddle and repair machines. One day he asked to help the university’s laboratory with a repair. While there he meets a girl named Koyori who has been bedridden for a long time. Suddenly, Tazuna and Koyori are pulled into a different called “Ziggurat”. In this world there are groups of people called handshakers, when two people touch hands they create Nimrod. They must defeat other handshakers to reach their goal to meet GOD.
Hand shakers has also much potential to be a great anime because it was a different con pet I haven’t seen in a long time. I think they fell short in a few areas. I did love the animation, the drawing of the characters was amazing. The colors they used was awesome as well. The story was pretty on point but they didn’t execute it really well. I did like the fights they had. The fights could have been much better. Hand shakers was still enjoyable to watch for me. I know may didn’t like it but I didn’t mind it at all. I did like the twist at the end. No spoilers.
You Keika, is the heir to an old famous exorcist family. After losing his parents he becomes poor and has a lot of misfortune. He makes a living as a street fortunate teller and a part time computer tech. One night at a junkyard he runs into this mysterious man who is an exorcist fighting an evil spirit. After this encounter You is killed by a car and becomes a ghost. The exorcist he met in the junkyard named Tanmoku makes a pact with You to help him fight evil spirits together.
I think the most enjoyable thing about this anime was the hot guy Tanmoku. I really have a thing for gray haired guys. Hahah the show was funny in many parts. You Keika is funny and so naive to the spirit world. When he realizes he can’t do things he wishes he could was funny. The relationship between you and Tanmoku was pretty much in the yaoi area. I feel like It Was totally there. Almost more than Yuri and Victor from Yuri on Ice. I do wish they could have played more on the bad characters then they did. The antagonist wasn’t really strong in this. The show had some good parts. But The storyline was pretty weak. I am not sure what they could have done to make it better but you can either enjoy it or not.
In 2009 there were a string of murders called the New Generation Madness. 6 years later after the huge earthquake in Shibuya there is another string of murders called the Return of The New Generation Madness. Takuru Miyashiro a high school student at a private school is part of the newspaper club begins investigating the new murders.
I was all about this anime when it first started. Everything was going smoothly and was very mysterious. Then it started to go downhill from there. I became extremely confused. They had new characters they introduced that made no sense. Then the story jumbled up, things just didn’t add up or make since after a while. I still don’t know what happened. I tried to watch it back but it was still confusing. I really wish they didn’t bundle so much into one series. Many things they introduced could have played out along the way. Not thrown at us so sudden. This really and I mean really had potential to be a good mystery anime. But it became a shit show. Pardon my French.
Chuta Kokonose is a middle schooler who through his whole life has heard a voice in his head. One day he is recruited by a strange creature to join the Space Police Force. He then learns that the voice in his head is a Monitalien, a symbolic creature living in his body. Now faced with tasks to catch creatures he must prove to his team and his cold- hearted classmate that he is worthy.
I am not sure where to start with this anime. I mean the characters were interesting. But I just didn’t feel this needed to be an anime. Catching the different aliens who are breaking the rules in the universe was so great. It had a little story that was cool when Chuta thought one of his best friends died but he didn’t and he was a spy. They should have played more upon that. I did like when they introduced dr. love because he was super hot (fan girl moment) but I just didn’t think this anime was good. The aliens were not interesting characters that kept my attention. The story was nothing to talk about. I just think it was just pointless to me.
So that is my review so far. What are your thoughts???
