Well it’s mid season for the winter 2017 anime. So, I wanted to give my opinion on the anime I’ve been watching this season so far.

Anime: Blue Exorcist season 2 Genre: Action, Fantasy, Supernatural, Shounen

15 year old Rin Okumura and his younger brother Yukio are raised by father Shiro who is an exorcist. One day Rin discovers that he and Yukio are sons of Satan. While protecting the brothers father Shiro is killed by Satan himself. Witnessing Father Shiro’s death Rin becomes enraged and draws the Kurikara sword which locked up Rin’s demonic powers, thus revealing his demonic powers, physical features and blue flames.

Rin enrolls in the True Cross Cram school which teaches exorcists their skills. He comes to find out that his brother Yukio was already a professional exorcist. Now Rin must learn the skills he need to become an excellent exorcist to one day defeat Satan.

Blue Exorcist, I was super excited it was coming back. Now that it’s back I’m not disappointed. Now I won’t lie, at first it started off slow and serious. Then it had that slice of life moment in between. Now the plot is getting intense and I’m loving it.

Anime: Chaos Child Genre: Sci-fi, Thriller

In 2009 there were a string of murders called the New Generation Madness. 6 years later after the huge earthquake in Shibuya there is another string of murders called the Return of The New Generation Madness. Takuru Miyashiro a high school student at a private school is part of the newspaper club begins investigating the new murders.

Chaos Child is underrated. I don’t see anyone else writing about it really. Chaos child has mystery and murder. It’s keeps me guessing. It’s almost like the game clue. Who is the killer? Now there is a copy cat serial killer. What will happen? Who will die next? Who can solve this crime. It’s really a good one for me.

Anime: Masamune Kun’s Revenge Genre: Romance, Comedy

8 years ago, Makabe Masamune was a weak and chubby little boy. He was harshly rejected by the beautiful Adagaki Aki. Now he is older and changed his name, lost the weight and looks better than ever. He is going to make Adagaki fall in love with him so he can reject her just as bad as she did him.

This romance comedy is not so bad. It’s not the greatest but it’s not bad. I do like the main character who wants to plot his revenge but is having a hard time reaching it. I’m really not really into romance but I have to say this is an anime that you should give a try. Will he get his revenge or will he fail? It does have many funny parts as well.

Anime: Hand Shakers Genre: Action

Tazuna is a high school student who likes to fiddle and repair machines. One day he asked to help the university’s laboratory with a repair. While there he meets a girl named Koyori who has been bedridden for a long time. Suddenly, Tazuna and Koyori are pulled into a different called “Ziggurat”. In this world there are groups of people called handshakers, when two people touch hands they create Nimrod. They must defeat other handshakers to reach their goal to meet GOD.

Hand Shakers I am really not sure about. The story has so much potential to be something great but I feel it’s taking forever to get there. The animation and colors are amazing. I love it. The fight scenes are pretty cool. But I need it to take it to the next level.

Anime: Saga of Tanya the Evil Genre: Military, Magic

Tanya Degurechaff’s is a young big blue eyed, blonde haired girl, who is in her final curriculum stages at the Imperial Military Academy. She is training in the third patrol as part of her services to the force. Her goal is to become a aviation Mage. But many unexpected events occur that make her goal seem far away.

I know many have written negative reviews on this show. The animation is weird. The characters are drawn so weird. But I do like the character of Tanya. She is super evil and just down right crazy. I am always a fan of bad characters. It’s been a long time since we had such a malicious character. The story is not so bad as well. I do like the magic against the military. Tanya taking on X who is God.

Anime: Eldlive Genre: Sci-fi, Action

Chuta Kokonose is a middle schooler who through his whole life has heard a voice in his head. One day he is recruited by a strange creature to join the Space Police Force. He then learns that the voice in his head is a Monitalien, a symbolic creature living in his body. Now faced with tasks to catch creatures he must prove to his team and his cold- hearted classmate that he is worthy.

Eldlive is an anime that just really didn’t need to be made. It is really a pointless anime. The creatures are disgusting to look at. The main character is not a character you can grow to love. There are mild funny parts. But not a series worth the watch.

Anime: Spirit Pact Genre: supernatural, Comedy, Fantasy

You Keika, is the heir to an old famous exorcist family. After losing his parents he becomes poor and has a lot of misfortune. He makes a living as a street fortunate teller and a part time computer tech. One night at a junkyard he runs into this mysterious man who is an exorcist fighting an evil spirit. After this encounter You is killed by a car and becomes a ghost. The exorcist he met in the junkyard named Tanmoku makes a pact with You to help him fight evil spirits together.

This is another anime I don’t get the Reason for this to be made. The storyline is so bad. Many of the characters are annoying. Except, Tanmoku is super hot. I think that is why I still watch the show. I wish his character was in another series. Its such a cool character but it’s being wasted in this show, ugh

So those are my reviews so far. What are your thoughts???

  1. Man I love the saga Tanya the Evil. Her character is just amazing and the dub is really solid . The animation is different but I think it works for the show as it really takes advantage of her sinister and psychotic expressions . Just my thoughts.

  3. Tanya the Evil is my favorite from this season. I loved the scene of her trying on the lolita dress! xD I think it’s really interesting that being reincarnated as a female doesn’t change Tanya at all (so far…). I like the way it portrays personality as distinct from gender. ❤ And the writing is really good…

  4. I have yet watch all of these (I usually wait when until a series is finished) , but reading through this, strangely enough the one that I find the most interesting, plotwise, is Chaos Child. Very cool storyline, thanks for bringing this to my attention, and ofcourse great post 😊

  5. I kind of feel elDLIVE and Spiritpact are finally getting batter after this week (still not amazing anime but starting to use some of their elements a bit better).
Chaos;Child unfortunately just reminded me of Chaos;Head, mostly by recapping that series first and ot be honest it would have been better distancing itself from it, so I just couldn’t give it a fair go.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this season’s anime.

  6. I haven’t seen these anime but I hear Blue Exorcist is really good. I think the anime takes place after everyone finds about Rin’s powers. I guess they wanted to start off the anime serious and they assumed you know the story.
