There is no way you have not run into Matthew whose blog is called Matt-in-The-Hat. His blog has everything from anime reviews, game reviews, anime news, and every Friday he has a new theme.
You can hold a conversation with him for hours. He feels like a good friend you had for a long time.
Check out his interview below and his site https://matthew903.wordpress.com and get to know him better.
1. What made you create a blog?
I started this blog because it was required for a college class. I took an English class and my professor wanted to create a WordPress account in order to get graded. I spent about a month and a half blogging about current news in the United States every week. Once I got done with the class, I stopped blogging. By the beginning of 2015, I decided to come back dedicate it to my hobbies.
2. When do you have time to create your posts and how do you come up with your ideas?
That depends; I usually find time during the day if possible or at night. At night, I’m not distracted. Weekends are my busiest days and I don’t usually blog.
When I do blog, I usually do these three: news, reviews, or TGIF posts. I do reviews on series if I finished them. Usually, if I finish an anime or manga, I usually do a review on it. On the news, I look up sources like Anime News Network or Crunchyroll news to help me stay updated. Whenever it mentions North America or just my interest, I write out on my blog and cite the source. I try not imitating exactly like these sites. My TGIF posts, Friday Posts, are usually random or have themes. For example, if there is a movie, specific anime news, or birthday, I grab whatever memes I think are suitable and compile it all in one post. I usually start these posts early as possible and most of the time I already know what will be the theme.
3. What are your goals for your blog?
My goal for my blog is to express my interest in anime and other hobbies. I also want to make friends and create a safe anime community. I would like to help the community by sharing news and help people understand what’s anime is about.
4. How often do you watch anime?
When I was college, I would watch anime only weekends or even watch at least one every so often.
On most days, I watch anime every day in the afternoon.
5. Do you have any friends or family members that are into anime?
I do have some friends that like anime. I am not sure if they watch as often as me but they do like it. I have a friend from an English class that likes Sailor Moon, Inuyasha and Please Twins. Another friend I know likes Naruto, Konosuba, Fullmetal Alchemist and Sword Art Online. I even got him into Rosario Vampire.
I’m the only one in my family that likes anime. I once got my younger brother into the Shonen anime like DragonBall Z, Naruto, One Piece and a little bit of Bleach. However, he doesn’t care about that much anymore as long its DragonBall Z. He’s not much of a fan like me anymore.
6. What was your first anime?
My first anime was Pokemon. I would watch Pokemon with cartoons like Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, and Pinky and Brain. Back then I thought it was a cartoon.
I didn’t realize what anime was until, I learned that Naruto was anime and it used to be on Cartoon Network and later on Toonami with One Piece and Zatch Bell.
7. What are your top favorite 3 Anime?
1. DragonBall Z
2 Sword Art Online
8. What are your top 3 favorite anime characters?
1. Son Goku (DragonBall)
2. Ichigo Kurosaki (Bleach)
3. Kenshin Himura (Rurouni Kenshin)
9. If you were an anime character what would your name be? What kind of personality will you have? And what will your superpower be if you had one?
If I was an anime character, I would like to have a simple name like Jin or Kiba. My personality would be a shy type but I will act silly or brave on the outside. I would also act very serious in tough situations too. If my character had powers, I would want him to have the ability of time manipulation. Not like going back into history or future, but I would like to able to slow things down or speed things up. For example, slow down a speeding car or speeding up time to and grow trees or even stopping a moving vehicle and saving someone’s life
10. If anime was banned what would you do?
If anime was banned, I would be disappointed. I wouldn’t be able to meet the friends I know online. My life will probably be dull and lonely.
Not to say it will be the end of the world, if anime was banned, I would have to accept the fact that anime is over. I would probably take an interest in comic books or just focus on video games.
So there you have it. I hope enjoyed getting to know Matthew better.
