It’s the spring time and it is the birth of new life as well as new anime. Many people have wrote about the spring seasons. But I’m writing my own thoughts. I don’t know how I have time to watch all this new anime but I find a way. Hahah

BUNGOU STRAY DOGS – (Bungō Sutorei Doggusu) 3 episodes

Nakajima was kicked out of his orphanage and left on the street starving. He decides to rob the next person that walks by him. Instead he sees a man drowning in the river and saves him. The man he saves is named Dazai who is suicidal, then comes along Kunikida who is writing in a notepad. They are both members of the Armed Detective Agency. This agency is a special task force that handles crimes that the police or military can not handle. This agency’s members all have special powers. Due to Nakajima saving Dazai and getting to know each other Nakajima soon joins the agency. We also find out that Nakajima has powers as well.

I really like this anime, it is hilarious, supernatural and a cool storyline. The first two episodes you are getting to know each of the characters, you see the hilarious side to them. Then Episode three it gets real. They go to battle. You then find out the main plot of the storyline. I can not wait to see how this turns out.

TWIN STAR EXORCISTS (Sōsei no Onmyōji) 3 episodes

The story is about a 14 year old boy Rokuro who has many dreams, but one of them is not becoming an exorcist. He grew up in a house with many exorcists including his best friend Ryogo. They all believe he can be a great exorcist one day, but Rokuro just does not have that goal in life.
One day while he is out he runs into a mysterious girl the same age as him named Benio. He soon finds out that she is an exorcist when they transport into Magano which is a realm of Kegare (evil spirit monsters).
After their encounter, Rokuro and Benio both soon find out that they are The Twin Star Exorcists and are suited to marry. They are fated to have the prophesied child who will be the most powerful exorcist ever. Benio and Rokuro are both against this fate. Especially Rokuro because he has other goals in mind especially not to marry Benio or to become an exorcist.

I’ve been reading the manga before the anime came out. It’s not doing so bad staying true to the manga. I like this series because I am a fan of Shounen anime. I can’t get enough. The typical boy that doesn’t want to do something but they are really good at it. Many people try to convince him to do it, then finally he gets into it again. Typical story but I love it. It’s funny and action packed. I’m just happy to see the manga come to life.

JOKER GAME (Jōkā Gēmu) 3 episodes

In 1937 the beginning of world world II, the D agency is secretly established by Lt. Yuuki of the Imperial Army. The D agency consists of civilian university graduates who aces the superhuman selection test. These members are spies who go undercover to expose and steal information to help their country win the war.

I am a sucker for spy genres. I don’t know what it is about spies but I love them. When I saw the posters for this I knew right away I was going to love it. And when I watched the first episode I was hooked. The characters are all mysterious and cool. I like how this show is like a real game. I love the fact it takes place during World War II. It has so many stories they can come up with especially with how many countries that were involved in the war. Definitely a must watch.

HUNDRED (Handoreddo) 3 episodes

On Earth there are mysterious life forms called Savages attacking the planet. Hundred is the only weapon that can destroy these savages.
Hayato is a teen boy that enters the battleship university to hopefully become a slayer. He becomes friends with Emile who reminds him of a past memory. On his first day he gets in to trouble and is challenged to a duel by the top fighter at the school the Queen.
Hayato’s new friend Emile practices with him to teach him how to use his hundred.
During his fight with the Queen, Hayato showcases special skills that a first time user shouldn’t have.

Not sure about this series because I like the characters, I like the fighting scenes and I love the female’s outfits. But this series kind of reminds me of Asterisk Wars. The storyline kind of doesn’t grab me like other anime. I guess I will continue watching and I will see what happens.

KIZNAIVER (Kizunaībā) 3 episodes

Agata Katsuhira is a high school teen who is unable to feel pain. He was constantly beaten up growing up. But he still didn’t feel any pain. One day a classmate Tenga comes to his rescue and saves him from the bullies. One day Katsuhira is approached by a mysterious emotionless girl named Noriko who tells him that he was selected to become a Kiznaiver because he is unable to feel pain.
They then both connect through Kizuna which allows them to feel each other’s pain. Soon he is then connected with 7 fellow classmates who lives would never link. They all become Kiznaivers.
The goal for Kizuna is to create a peaceful world connecting people through. If one Kiznaiver is wounded the other Kiznaivers feel the pain as well.

The first two episodes had me like hmmm I don’t know about this. It seemed interesting but kind of slow paced for me. I didn’t really care for any characters except Katsuhira and Noriko. Then the Third episode was really good and had me reconsider. I have another character I like Yoshiharu. He seems super cool and mysterious. So I will keep this in my not sure section until I see more episodes.

HAVEN’T YOU HEARD? I’M SAKAMOTO (Sakamoto desu ga) 2 episodes

Sakamoto is not your typical high school student. He is very handsome, extremely smart, and popular with the girls. Many of the male students do not like this. The males try every trick in the book to take down Sakamoto. But no matter what they do Sakamoto always gets out of every trick and looks cool no matter what.

Sakamoto is definitely a great and good looking guy. The show is very funny. But I feel like it will not going anywhere besides that. I do laugh when I watch it because I can’t help it. But I won’t name it the best anime,

FLYING WITCH (Furaingu Uitchi) 3 episodes

15 year old Makoto is a flying witch who leaves her town Yokohama with her black cat Chito. she moves to Aomori to live with her cousin Kei and Chinatsu. Makoto has limited powers. While there she continues to train being a witch.

I am not really that much of a fan of Slice of Life. I can watch a few and enjoy it. But this series is just pointless. It has no goal to the storyline. Nothing is being accomplished. It’s not even funny. Makoto comes to town and then what? Nothing! The only thing I enjoy in the series is Chinatsu’s reaction to all the strange things happening around her. I’m going to continue watching but I don’t know how long I can hang on.

ACE ATTORNEY (Phoenix Wright and Gyakuten Saiban) 4 episodes

Naruhodō is a rookie lawyer who takes on a homicide case for his first case. We find out the defendant is an old childhood friend of his. He owes him a favor because if it wasn’t for him he would have never become a lawyer. This series follow Naruhodō in the courtroom proving he can become a great lawyer.

This series is back and forth for me. The first episode I was kind of interested. It seemed really good. It was different and it was based on lawyers. After the first episode it went down hill from there. Every episode they are finger pointing. Then everything is way over the top. The story took a twist but it wasn’t a really good twist. Plus Naruhodō wins every case. I’ll continue watching but I really hope it gets better.

THE LOST VILLAGE (Mayoiga) 4 episodes

A group of 30 men and women head out on a bus tour to head to a village called Nanakimura. This group is on this tour to leave their old lives to live a new life in Nanakimura. Nanakimura is considered an urban legend. When they arrive to this village it is vacant. Strange things begin to happen.

I was all for this anime when I saw the poster. It looked so interesting. Then I watch, and let’s just say I am very disappointed. It just doesn’t have the suspense I thought it would have. There are way too many characters too keep up with. I have my favorites but they do not get enough screen time because they are too busy giving all 30 characters screen time. Let’s just say very disappointed.

Which spring anime are you watching? And which ones are your favorites?

  1. This remake of a movie with the same name from 1966 with Shirley MacLaine and Michael Caine didn’t show anything new and exciting! This version is directed by Michael Hoffman, and starring Colin Firth, Cameron Diaz, Alan Rickman and Stanley Tucci. From the script by Joel and Ethan Coen to the acting – everything is somehow average and bland.

  2. Kizniver & Lost Village are definitely my top picks for this season, both show a lot of promise. Kizniver, its all about the characters, the way each one develops over the course of the show is pretty awesome and amazing. Makes me want to learn in depth about each and everyone of their past and how they’ve become (In Sozonaki’s eyes) the new seven deadly sins.

Lost Village is great because its another physiological thriller type of anime, not sure yet if it’s on par with Another or even as twisted as Higurashi, but only time can tell. I can’t wait to see were they take it.

There is two other animes I don’t see up here that were released around the same time and if you haven’t seen them yet you most definitely should.
http://myanimelist.net/anime/31964/Boku_no_Hero_Academia or Hero Academy is Superb! at the end of every single episode I’m just begging for more.
http://myanimelist.net/anime/28623/Koutetsujou_no_Kabaneri or Kabaneri of the Iron fortress very well done! each episode pulls you deeper and deeper into its world were you’re constantly rooting for the main characters, to win over all the obstacles.

    1. I’m trying to watch Kabaneri. Everyone keeps talking about it and when I go to watch it my wifi acts so stupid. I wish it was in crunchyroll. Hahah I just started watching Boku no Hero academia and also Big order. I like them both a lot

      1. Ahhh That’s right I forgot to mention Big Order its really good too!! hahah just download some episodes of Kabaneri on your phone and watch on your way to work. and Boku no academia is SOOOOOOO GOOOD! I can’t wait til he has full control over his quirk

  3. Seems mine and your opinions differ on a few shows, but we wouldn’t have variety if everyone had the same tastes!

I’m a big fan of slice-of-life shows myself, with My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU and similar shows being some of my favourite, so Flying Witch and Tanaka-Kun is Always Listless are both enjoyable shows for me. I do find a bit of comedy in them and take some interest in whatever plot there is to be found, but I watch them more for the slow pace to help me relax at the end of the day.

Bungo Stray Dogs, RE:Zero, and Sakamoto Desu Ga are shows I gave a try, but ended up dropping. Bungo Stray Dogs because it didn’t really catch my interest in the first two episodes, RE:Zero because it was just way to brutal for me (I actually just made a post about that), and Sakamoto because it had a bit too much of a yaoi feel for me. Strange considering I find yuri romances adorable, but yaoi just creeps me out for some reason.

I’ve also been enjoying Asterisk Wars through the first season to the current episodes, but most people I know weren’t fans, so you aren’t alone there. Kiznaiver is my favourite show so far this season, and Twin Star Exorcists is a close second. I didn’t try any of the other shows you talked about with the exception of The Lost Village, which I abandoned after about 8 minutes haha.

Looking forward to seeing how both of our views evolve as the shows continue! 😀

    1. Thanks so much for your reviews. I like to see everyone else opinions on shows. So cool. Yeah kiznaiver def grew on me a lot. It’s now one of my favs. Asterisks wars is going really good for me. I still love Bungou hahah it’s funny.

      1. I’ve had people telling me Bungou was getting better into the newer episodes, so I may have to give that another go. I always welcome another comedy haha. I’ve been loving saturdays because I always have them off work, and I get a new episode from 5 different shows to watch. It’s like an anime buffet. :p

One show i’ve been watching that I don’t think either of us mentioned is Bakuon; which i’ve been enjoying because it’s different, and something that stands out is always nice to me. The last episode did have a random explosion of fanservice toward the end, which caught me off-guard and wasn’t really wanted, but I love the characters. Hopefully the keep the usual innocence of the characters intact from here on out lol.

  4. Wow, looks like I’m missing out on some great anime! I need to step up my game and start watching again! I really enjoyed this post, it makes it easy to weed out some of the not so great series in this season’s lineup! I’ll definitely keep my eye out for more of your lists and reviews! 😀

    1. Thanks for reading the review. I say watch all of you could. Everyone’s opinion is different. You might like the ones I don’t and vise versa. But def try to catch up. There is so much out there hahaha thank you again 😊😊😊👍👍👍

  5. If Slice of life is not your fav, how about Flying Witch Petit? In Facebook, There’s “Flying Witch Petit” clip, short anime for promoting main series. So I watched.

I watched this 2 minutes anime and maximum kawaii 3D punches sent me flying & knockout like that from this overwhelming power, their cuteness are too much for me.

That’s why, after I recovered (from injury), I did anime review for respecting their level SS cuteness.

warning: please prepare your body & soul before proceed it.

  6. Yeah, I already dropped Ace Attorney and Flying Witch. Both of those series are too boring or too disjointed from reality for me to find enjoyable.

I don’t much care for Bungou Stray Dogs either, but it’s mindless entertainment at least.

The only two series I’m enjoying thus far are Kiznaiver and Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge. Tanaka-kun is a bit of a surprise find for me, as the first episode wasn’t anything special, but it’s starting to grow on me. Kiznaiver is entertaining only in the sense that it’s different and the characters all have solid potential to grow. However, the story’s shadiness is worrying.

  7. Completely agree with you about Bungou Stray Dogs, it’s only 3 episodes in but I have to recommend it to everyone because I have absolute faith that it will continue to be good!
I was wondering about trying Ace Attorney, Flying Witch, Joker Game and Kiznaiver. I will stick around to see what your thoughts are moving forward.
Also, what do you think of Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress? I’m quite impressed by the two episodes released so far. 🙂
