I know that is a hard question! There are so many anime out there and many more characters to choose from. But there are some characters that draw us in more than others. You may have 1 or 20 fav characters. I have sooo many. But to narrow them down to my top 5 was very hard. But these 5 I will say def deserve to be my top 5 because I get super excited every time I see them on the screen.

We meet L in Death Note. He is a world renowned detective that has solved many difficult and unsolved cases. He comes to Tokyo to find Kira who is the serial killer behind the recent deaths of many dangerous people.

As soon as L’s voice was heard I knew I would like this guy. Then you finally see L. This lanky, slim, pale, dark circles around his eyes and kind of shabby guy. He looked AMAZING!!! Hahah he was such a different and unique character. I fell in love immediately. Not in a fan girl way. More like I want to be him, even though I’m a girl.

I really like L because he was extremely smart. He narrowed down all his suspects of Kira down to Light right off the bat. He kept his suspicions on Light the whole time. I was extremely fascinated with how unique he was with everything he did. From the way he sat in the chair, the way he wore no shoes, from him eating sweets and even how he answered the phone.

(spoiler ahead) You know my life came to a halt when L was killed. I literally didn’t know what to do with myself.

I have to say L is my ultimate favorite anime character no doubt about it.

In Tokyo Ghoul Juuzou is a special class ghoul investigator. He was partnered with Yukinori Shinohara. He was assigned to handle the Binge Eater investigation in the 20th ward.

At first when you see Juuzou in the anime you think it’s a girl. I was like wow this girl is crazy. Haha In the Manga I knew right away he was a boy. I like his style of clothing, he wear shoes that look like slippers, his colorful suspenders, his baggy white shirt, his Capri black pants, his white hair and then his stitches tops it all.

When he came out fighting and going crazy on the ghouls I was obsessed. He had no mercy and was ready to kill any ghoul in site. When they showed his back story I started to understand his maniac ways. He was kidnapped as a kid and was brought up in a crazy environment by a lady named Big Madam (wont go into details) and his original name was Rei. He was mistreated.

I sometimes wonder is he a hero or a villain? I mean don’t we like the ghouls. He is killing them. But yet you are rooting for him. It’s soooo confusing. But I still love Juuzou. I like that he is just a crazy maniac. It’s just so entertaining. Even his voice is crazy too.

Toto Sakigami a.k.a The Mockingbird is a deadman in Deadman Wonderland. He is considered to be the most powerful Deadman. He is the only person who has fought with The Wretched Egg and survived. Each Deadman had their own branch of sin (blood powers). Toto’s branch of sin is called Love labyrinth which can copy other deadman’s branch of sin if he gets a lick of their blood.

In the anime you don’t get to see Toto as much. But what you get to see you can get an idea of how free spirited he is. He is very flamboyant and seems carefree. He is friends with Shiro as well. I liked Toto because of his free spirited way. I loved the first full scene you get to see of him when Renji (The Crow) is showing Ganta (The Woodpecker) how to use his branch of sin. Toto comes into the scene and Renji is scared. He explains to Ganta who Toto is and Ganta freaks out as well. You then see Toto lick Renji’s blood. Such a cool scene.

So I read the Manga and you get even more of an evil side of Toto because you the find out (Spoiler ahead) that Doctor Hagire has taken over Toto’s body the whole time. The madness that he has and the craziness gets even more intense. It just makes me love Toto even more!!!

The next two names you may have seen these in my post about my top 10 favorite Anime villains. But these two are also my favorite characters as well.

In the empire Esdeath is a high ranking general. She is also the leader of an elite group of killers called The Jaegers who are in charge of killing Night Raid. Night Raid is an elite group of assassins that are trying to take down the Empire. Esdeath is a vicious/malicious general.

I loved Esdeath! I thought she was sexy, smart, tough and extremely strong. She knew what she wanted and that was to kill anyone in her way and to also be with Tatsumi. Her outfit was so cute. I think I may cosplay her one day. I loved her powers, the way she used her ice powers to kill people. She never wanted to be weak. She knew she must be strong.

Esdeath also had a charm to her. When you saw her with Tatsumi you felt a genuine person. She had a heart and she seemed real. I know she was a killer but I just liked that she was a tough chick and didn’t let anything stand in her way. Again, I was upset when she died.

Medusa is a witch related to the Gorgon sisters. She posed as nurse at the Death Weapon Meister Academy (DWMA). She is the mother to Crona (Demon Sword Master). Her goal in Soul Eater was to release the Kishin from his seal to recreate the world.

Well first off, I loved Medusa because of her snake vectors she used to hurt her enemies. I love snakes. Next, she was so manipulative that she used her own son Crona to do crazy things for her. She was the main antagonist in the series. She set the whole story to me. If it wasn’t for her we would not have such a great plot.

When I first watched the anime, I knew something wasn’t right about her, her face looked so sneaky. So I became more interested in her. When I saw her put the black blood into Soul I was like I knew it she is bad. Hahaha then when she came out with her army I was like wow this is getting crazy.

I became sad when I thought Dr. stein killed her. I was like who will be the cool bad guy now. Then she took over little Rachel’s body. I said DAMN how low can you go. Hahaha but she went there and continued in her mission to release the Kishin.

She is awesome and I wish they did a spinoff series of Medusa of where she came from.

So as you can tell from my list I like characters that are crazy, psycho or very evil. I was never in to normal characters. I like characters that stand out.

It’s the spring time and it is the birth of new life as well as new anime. Many people have wrote about the spring seasons. But I’m writing my own thoughts. I don’t know how I have time to watch all this new anime but I find a way. Hahah

BUNGOU STRAY DOGS – (Bungō Sutorei Doggusu) 3 episodes

Nakajima was kicked out of his orphanage and left on the street starving. He decides to rob the next person that walks by him. Instead he sees a man drowning in the river and saves him. The man he saves is named Dazai who is suicidal, then comes along Kunikida who is writing in a notepad. They are both members of the Armed Detective Agency. This agency is a special task force that handles crimes that the police or military can not handle. This agency’s members all have special powers. Due to Nakajima saving Dazai and getting to know each other Nakajima soon joins the agency. We also find out that Nakajima has powers as well.

I really like this anime, it is hilarious, supernatural and a cool storyline. The first two episodes you are getting to know each of the characters, you see the hilarious side to them. Then Episode three it gets real. They go to battle. You then find out the main plot of the storyline. I can not wait to see how this turns out.

TWIN STAR EXORCISTS (Sōsei no Onmyōji) 3 episodes

The story is about a 14 year old boy Rokuro who has many dreams, but one of them is not becoming an exorcist. He grew up in a house with many exorcists including his best friend Ryogo. They all believe he can be a great exorcist one day, but Rokuro just does not have that goal in life.
One day while he is out he runs into a mysterious girl the same age as him named Benio. He soon finds out that she is an exorcist when they transport into Magano which is a realm of Kegare (evil spirit monsters).
After their encounter, Rokuro and Benio both soon find out that they are The Twin Star Exorcists and are suited to marry. They are fated to have the prophesied child who will be the most powerful exorcist ever. Benio and Rokuro are both against this fate. Especially Rokuro because he has other goals in mind especially not to marry Benio or to become an exorcist.

I’ve been reading the manga before the anime came out. It’s not doing so bad staying true to the manga. I like this series because I am a fan of Shounen anime. I can’t get enough. The typical boy that doesn’t want to do something but they are really good at it. Many people try to convince him to do it, then finally he gets into it again. Typical story but I love it. It’s funny and action packed. I’m just happy to see the manga come to life.

JOKER GAME (Jōkā Gēmu) 3 episodes

In 1937 the beginning of world world II, the D agency is secretly established by Lt. Yuuki of the Imperial Army. The D agency consists of civilian university graduates who aces the superhuman selection test. These members are spies who go undercover to expose and steal information to help their country win the war.

I am a sucker for spy genres. I don’t know what it is about spies but I love them. When I saw the posters for this I knew right away I was going to love it. And when I watched the first episode I was hooked. The characters are all mysterious and cool. I like how this show is like a real game. I love the fact it takes place during World War II. It has so many stories they can come up with especially with how many countries that were involved in the war. Definitely a must watch.

HUNDRED (Handoreddo) 3 episodes

On Earth there are mysterious life forms called Savages attacking the planet. Hundred is the only weapon that can destroy these savages.
Hayato is a teen boy that enters the battleship university to hopefully become a slayer. He becomes friends with Emile who reminds him of a past memory. On his first day he gets in to trouble and is challenged to a duel by the top fighter at the school the Queen.
Hayato’s new friend Emile practices with him to teach him how to use his hundred.
During his fight with the Queen, Hayato showcases special skills that a first time user shouldn’t have.

Not sure about this series because I like the characters, I like the fighting scenes and I love the female’s outfits. But this series kind of reminds me of Asterisk Wars. The storyline kind of doesn’t grab me like other anime. I guess I will continue watching and I will see what happens.

KIZNAIVER (Kizunaībā) 3 episodes

Agata Katsuhira is a high school teen who is unable to feel pain. He was constantly beaten up growing up. But he still didn’t feel any pain. One day a classmate Tenga comes to his rescue and saves him from the bullies. One day Katsuhira is approached by a mysterious emotionless girl named Noriko who tells him that he was selected to become a Kiznaiver because he is unable to feel pain.
They then both connect through Kizuna which allows them to feel each other’s pain. Soon he is then connected with 7 fellow classmates who lives would never link. They all become Kiznaivers.
The goal for Kizuna is to create a peaceful world connecting people through. If one Kiznaiver is wounded the other Kiznaivers feel the pain as well.

The first two episodes had me like hmmm I don’t know about this. It seemed interesting but kind of slow paced for me. I didn’t really care for any characters except Katsuhira and Noriko. Then the Third episode was really good and had me reconsider. I have another character I like Yoshiharu. He seems super cool and mysterious. So I will keep this in my not sure section until I see more episodes.

HAVEN’T YOU HEARD? I’M SAKAMOTO (Sakamoto desu ga) 2 episodes

Sakamoto is not your typical high school student. He is very handsome, extremely smart, and popular with the girls. Many of the male students do not like this. The males try every trick in the book to take down Sakamoto. But no matter what they do Sakamoto always gets out of every trick and looks cool no matter what.

Sakamoto is definitely a great and good looking guy. The show is very funny. But I feel like it will not going anywhere besides that. I do laugh when I watch it because I can’t help it. But I won’t name it the best anime,

FLYING WITCH (Furaingu Uitchi) 3 episodes

15 year old Makoto is a flying witch who leaves her town Yokohama with her black cat Chito. she moves to Aomori to live with her cousin Kei and Chinatsu. Makoto has limited powers. While there she continues to train being a witch.

I am not really that much of a fan of Slice of Life. I can watch a few and enjoy it. But this series is just pointless. It has no goal to the storyline. Nothing is being accomplished. It’s not even funny. Makoto comes to town and then what? Nothing! The only thing I enjoy in the series is Chinatsu’s reaction to all the strange things happening around her. I’m going to continue watching but I don’t know how long I can hang on.

ACE ATTORNEY (Phoenix Wright and Gyakuten Saiban) 4 episodes

Naruhodō is a rookie lawyer who takes on a homicide case for his first case. We find out the defendant is an old childhood friend of his. He owes him a favor because if it wasn’t for him he would have never become a lawyer. This series follow Naruhodō in the courtroom proving he can become a great lawyer.

This series is back and forth for me. The first episode I was kind of interested. It seemed really good. It was different and it was based on lawyers. After the first episode it went down hill from there. Every episode they are finger pointing. Then everything is way over the top. The story took a twist but it wasn’t a really good twist. Plus Naruhodō wins every case. I’ll continue watching but I really hope it gets better.

THE LOST VILLAGE (Mayoiga) 4 episodes

A group of 30 men and women head out on a bus tour to head to a village called Nanakimura. This group is on this tour to leave their old lives to live a new life in Nanakimura. Nanakimura is considered an urban legend. When they arrive to this village it is vacant. Strange things begin to happen.

I was all for this anime when I saw the poster. It looked so interesting. Then I watch, and let’s just say I am very disappointed. It just doesn’t have the suspense I thought it would have. There are way too many characters too keep up with. I have my favorites but they do not get enough screen time because they are too busy giving all 30 characters screen time. Let’s just say very disappointed.

Which spring anime are you watching? And which ones are your favorites?

I am super excited. I have been waiting a whole year to see this. I kept seeing posters of this anime and finally it is coming out.

Funimation emailed that we can pre-order our tickets. I looked up my location and yay they have a showtime in NY.

In 19th Century London, corpses are used as labor workers. Dr. Frankenstein (yes I said Frankenstein) lost writings are to be found by Watson after he joins a secret society by the government.
I’m going to cross my fingers and hope this movie is good.

Below is the trailer, ENJOY!

There are so many popular anime out there that is pretty much mainstream. I.E Attack on Titan, One Piece, Fairytail, Naruto and etc. Then there are some that are not mainstream but have really good storylines, characters, cliffhangers and etc. We all have some anime we like that is not popular amongst anime fans. Below are a few of mine.

Myoujou Academy is a private girls’ boarding school. Class Black has 13 transferred students who are all assassins with one target… Haru Ichinose. If they are successful with assassinating Haru they are granted any wish they desire. All these assassins are all equipped with special skills they’ve learned in the academy. There is one particular assassin Tokaku Azuma who is top of her class. She begins to develop feelings for Haru and begins to protct her from the other assassins on her own.

The reason why I like this anime is because of the challenges Azuma goes through to protect Haru. These girls are always together doing activities but then you have one of the girls plotting to take out Haru during these activities. Azuma is always aware of her surroundings. Each character is unique in their own way. They are extremely crazy, psycho, hilarious and more. The fight scenes are good too. I like the fact that the characters are all female assassins. I wish more people grasp this anime. Give it a try.

Tokyo is hit with many terrorist attacks. The police have no leads on any suspects. All they have are videos that are uploaded on the Internet of two people taunting the police with cryptic clues of their next attacks. Little does the authority know these are two boys named Nine and Twelve who belong to a group called Sphinx. They are out to show the world that they are not safe.
You find out that Nine and Twelve are two boys that were experimented on in a laboratory. They shouldn’t even exist. Their time in this lab is the reason for their madness.

Twelve meets a girl named Lisa who has many problems in her life. Soon she becomes acquainted with Nine and Twelve and her life changes in a flash.

Detective Shinbazaki becomes determined to find these criminals. You watch this series as a cat and dog race as the cops try and solve this crime.

I get this is not the best anime but I really liked it. Many have said the storyline was missing something. I do agree with that. I do wish they went more into their past and their time in the lab and what happened with the experimentations. But other than that I like Nine being a calm character who is extremely smart. I like Twelves child like ways. It plays off well with Nine. I like how the cops try to solve the cryptic clues they receive to know when the next attack will happen. It’s not so bad. The the ending omg many people talk about the ending.

In Ergastulum, a city that is filled with the mafia, hoodlums, prostitutes and dirty cops, you find Nicholas Brown and Warick Arcangelo. They are handymen for both the cops and the Mafia. They save a prostitute named Alex from her crazy pimp. She becomes their assistant for their handyman business. As the series go on you begin to learn that Nicholas Brown is a Twilight, which are humans with super human abilities. He is also deaf but that doesn’t stop him from whooping butt. Warwick has another job as well as a gigolo. You find out more of his past of coming up rich and leaving the good life to do what he wants. Alex their assistant trying to clean her life up and escape her demons of her once crazy pimp who abused her.

Something about this series really grabbed me right away. I wasn’t going to watch it because of the style of drawing but I read nothing but good reviews. So I gave it a try and LOVED it. The background of the two main characters was a great story told. How they met, how they were abused and how they come to what they are now.
The supporting characters are so good as well. I love the other twilights that Nicholas has to fight. The fighting scenes are amazing.
The way they created the city as this low down gritty place felt so real. Overall I do think this anime is underrated.

Aoharu x Kikanjou surrounds Hotaru Tachibana who is president of her high school and is extremely aggressive with her fellow students. She is mistaken for a boy because she pretty much dresses as a boy. One day when coming home she sees a mysterious guy standing near her apartment. The next day her friend comes to her upset because a host tricked her out of her money. Tachibana being who she is goes to the host club to confront the guy. She soon finds out that the host is the mysterious man that was near her apartment which is her neighbor. His name is Masamune Matsuoka.

He challenges Tachibana to a game called survival. This is a shooting game. due to the damage Tachibana caused at the club she must pay her debt. So Matsuoka invites Tachibana to join his team called Toy Gun Gun team to pay off her debt. He is unaware that Tachibana is a female. He introduces Tachibana to Tōru Yukimura his other teammate. He is an manga artist and extremely perverted haha. They form an alliance and begin to train for Survival Games.

I wish they had a game like this where I’m at. They probably do but I haven’t looked hard enough. I like this anime because each of the 3 main characters have a past that they are unable to deal with. They each kind of avoid the problems. The problems they avoid play in to their daily lives. I love psychological situations with characters.
The action is not like omg attack on Titan but it’s good because you want their team to win.
This show also has very funny moments especially with Tachibana’s aggressiveness and Yukimura’s pervertedness. I wish their was a second season because you have so many unaswered questions, like does Matsuoka find out Tachibana is a female? Do they win the Survival games as a team.? So have to watch this.

One day Earth is infested with worm like creatures called Parasytes. They begin to enter through human’s noses and ears and take over their host body. Shinichi a regular 17 year old teen who lives with his parents and one night while he is sleeping a Parasyte tries to take over his body through his ears, but since he was wearing headphones the Parasyte takes over his right hand. Because the Parasyte didn’t take over his brain Shinichi and this Parasyte now named Migi are able to co-exist with their own personalities and minds.
Throughout the season you see Shinichi and Migi’s separate views on many situations. Migi thinks more logically while Shinichi thinks more emotionally. As time goes on you see Shinichi begin to change drastically, he begins to start thinking more logically like Migi. He gains super human strength he didn’t have before. Shinichi and Migi begin to work together to get rid of other Parasytes that are taking over the human race.

I really feel this anime is underrated. I mean the storyline is so amazing. I love how Migi is more logical in many situations that many humans as Shinichi has shown will react emotionally. Who knows if aliens may take over one day and the same thing happens. I also, love when Shinichi goes from being a nerd to being super cool and kind of sexy, when bullies try to pick on him the new Shinichi can kick all their butts. I also, like the weird fight scene of the Parasytes. The human heads become spiral looking creatures and then have sword like hands. So much craziness. But when the series ended I was kind of upset, I felt so connected to this show.

Anime: Dragon Ball Z Genre: Action, Adventure, Martial Arts, Superpower, Comedy, Shounen Rating: 8.5/10

I love to hear stories of how people got into anime. Some may have stumbled upon it like me. Some may have been told by their friend or sibling. Whatever the story is I will love to hear.

How I got into anime?

One day when I was like 10, I was flipping through the television channels because nothing was on. Now this is before you can go on the Internet and go to whatever anime site. This is before Netflix, Hulu plus and etc.

Suddenly, I stopped on a channel that had a guy with spiky hair in a armored uniform with a tail and another guy who looked like him with an orange suit. They were in the midst of battle. The guy in the armored suit was extremely strong beating up the other guy. He soon was telling him that he is his younger brother and his name is actually Kakarot. Kakarot tells him his name is Goku and he doesn’t remember his past.

As you may know especially from the pictures, it was Dragon Ball Z!

I loved the whole feel of the show, the martial arts and the power. Then the storyline was awesome. What really pulled me in was when that episode ended it was a cliffhanger. So you know with Animes with cliffhangers you have to watch the next episode to know what happens. And that is exactly what I did for the next 283 or so episodes of Dragon Ball, Hahahah

Please, tell me your story of how you got into anime????
